Iowa State University’s Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a ServiceNow Architect (Systems Analyst III) to lead the technical architecture, design, and ongoing improvement of the ServiceNow platform in support of ITS and university operations.

The role works with analysts, developers, campus stakeholders, infrastructure teams, security, and ITS leadership to ensure ServiceNow design supports stable operations, consistent processes, and long‑term maintainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in MIS or CS preferred.
• ServiceNow certification preferred (CSA, CIS, CAD) and CTA desired.
• Experience mentoring developers and leading technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical architecture, design, and ongoing improvement of the ServiceNow platform.
• Provide technical leadership for platform design, integrations, workflows, automation, data governance, and AI functionality.

Job Description

Information Technology Services (ITS) at Iowa State University is currently accepting applications for a ServiceNow Architect (Systems Analyst III) position. The ServiceNow Architect is responsible for the technical architecture, design, and ongoing improvement of the ServiceNow platform in support of ITS and university operational needs. This position provides technical leadership for platform design, integrations, workflow standards, automation solutions, AI enabled functionality, data governance, and complex problem resolution.

This role works closely with analysts, developers, campus stakeholders, infrastructure teams, security, and ITS leadership to ensure ServiceNow is designed and maintained in a way that supports stable operations, consistent processes, and long term maintainability. The position also helps guide project work, reviews technical solutions, and supports platform decisions that affect multiple teams or services.

The ServiceNow Architect is expected to understand the broader enterprise impact of platform decisions, help define technical direction, and ensure that work is aligned with operational needs, supportability, and university standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in management information systems or computer science
• Previous ServiceNow experience
• Experience mentoring developers
• Certification - ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA), Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in one or more modules, Certified Application Developer (CAD)
• Certified Technical Architect (CTA)

This position offers the opportunity for remote work but does require the employee to reside in the state of Iowa on or before the start of employment.
