Job summary

Hale Trailer Brake & Wheel, Inc in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Service Writer to join our trailer service team. This full-time role handles estimating repair costs, preparing service orders, and coordinating between customers and mechanics.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience as a heavy-duty truck and trailer mechanic preferred.
• Some experience with Heavy Haul, Walking Floor, Dumps, and other trailers preferred.
• Must have strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.
• Experience with fabrication, suspensions, air brakes, electrical systems, hydraulics, body repairs and welding is a plus.
• Must present a professional, motivated, positive, results-oriented attitude.
• Must have good communication & strong computer skills.
• Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Must adhere to company safety policies.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test and physical.
• Must have a valid driver’s license without violations.

Responsibilities

• Estimate cost of repairs and prepare itemized service orders.
• Initiate and control the service order process, secure customer’s signature, and close when completed.
• Serve as a liaison between mechanics and customers.
• Comply with DOT, OSHA and other standards and company policies.
• Handle payments of invoices per company policy.
• Check in equipment for service work and sign out completed work.

Responsibilities

• Estimate cost of repairs and prepares itemized service order, listing costs of parts and labor.
• Initiate and control the service order process, secure customer’s signature, and close when completed.
• Serve as a liaison between mechanics and customers.
• Comply with all Company policies, DOT, OSHA and other governmental standards and regulations.
• Handle payments of invoices (cash, credit charges, checks) per company policy
• Check in equipment for service work and sign out completed work to customers
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Some previous experience with Heavy Haul, Walking Floor, Dumps, and other types of trailers preferred.
• Must have strong organizational skills to effectively manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and complete assignments within expected time frames.
• Some previous experience with fabrication, suspensions, air brakes, electrical systems, hydraulics, body repairs and welding. Liftgate and refrigeration units, experience a plus.
• Must present a professional, highly motivated, positive, results oriented, problem-solving attitude.
• Must have good communication & strong computer skills.
• Must be able to work independently in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
• Must adhere to all Company policies including safety policies.
• Must pass a standard pre-employment drug test and physical.
