Job summary

Whaley Foodservice is seeking a qualified service technician to maintain and repair commercial kitchen and HVAC equipment. The role requires training in at least two skill sets, leadership potential to mentor others, and on‑call rotation participation.

A valid driver’s license and background check are required. The ideal candidate will document work orders on a tablet, communicate repair status professionally, and ensure parts and tools are ready for daily service.

Qualifications

• CFESA Master Technician with three of the four CFESA certifications.
• 3 years of applicable experience required.
• Must pass a background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair gas, electric, water, refrigeration and steam powered commercial kitchen and HVAC equipment.
• Document tasks, parts orders and time on a tablet and communicate repair status to the customer.
• Maintain the service vehicle, tools and uniforms; monitor stock for required parts.
• Work independently daily and participate in weekend/holiday on-call rotations; overtime as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for maintenance and repair of customer equipment as assigned. This position is trained in at least two skill sets, maintains a high level of productivity, must have three of the four CFESA certifications and is assigned to the on‑call roster. This position demonstrates leadership capabilities with the ability to mentor and train other employees.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Adhere to all SAFETY policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment.
2. Troubleshoot and repair gas, electric, water, refrigeration and steam powered commercial kitchen and HVAC equipment.
3. Utilize tablet to document task (parts order, work order, timesheet) on a timely basis.
4. Communicate professionally with customer regarding required repairs and status.
5. Use proper tools for repair, including hand tools and power tools.
6. Monitor truck stock to insure required parts are stocked on vehicle.
7. Maintain service vehicle, tools and uniforms.
8. Work independently with daily supervision.
9. Participate as scheduled for weekend/holiday on‑call rotation and work regular overtime as needed.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Obtain correct part numbers through branch parts person.
2. Collect payment on COD jobs.
3. Contribute positively to branch targets for response time and first time fix rates.
4. Participates in available training to increase skill and knowledge.
5. Performs other duties as required.

CONTACTS

• Internal - Daily with branch staff; occasionally with corporate staff.
• External - Frequent and regular contact with customers. Occasional contact with factories for warranty purposes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Completion of a satisfactory background check and drug screen is required.
• 3 years of applicable experience.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record that all aligns with our safety standards.
• CFESA Master Technician with three of the four CFESA certifications.
