Job summary

Whaley Foodservice is seeking a skilled service technician to maintain and repair customer equipment at customer sites. The role emphasizes leadership, mentoring, and participation in on‑call rotations.

A CFESA certification subset is required along with a valid license and clean driving record. Responsibilities include troubleshooting a range of commercial kitchen and HVAC equipment, documenting work via tablet, and ensuring parts availability on the vehicle.

Qualifications

• 3 years of applicable experience.
• CFESA certifications: three of the four required.
• Valid driver's license and driving record aligned with safety standards.
• Completion of a satisfactory background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to SAFETY policies and use of PPE.
• Troubleshoot and repair gas, electric, water, refrigeration and steam‑powered equipment.
• Document tasks using a tablet (parts order, work order, timesheet).
• Communicate repairs and status professionally with customers.
• Use proper hand and power tools for repairs.
• Monitor parts on the service vehicle and maintain vehicle/tools/uniforms.
• Work independently with daily supervision.
• Participate in weekend/holiday on‑call rotation and overtime as needed.

Job description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for maintenance and repair of customer equipment as assigned. The role is trained in at least two skill sets, maintains a high level of productivity, must have three of the four CFESA certifications and is assigned to the on‑call roster. It demonstrates leadership capabilities with the ability to mentor and train other employees.

Major Responsibilities

1. Adhere to all SAFETY policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment.
2. Troubleshoot and repair gas, electric, water, refrigeration and steam‑powered commercial kitchen and HVAC equipment.
3. Utilize tablet to document task (parts order, work order, timesheet) on a timely basis.
4. Communicate professionally with customer regarding required repairs and status.
5. Use proper tools for repair, including hand tools and power tools.
6. Monitor truck stock to insure required parts are stocked on vehicle.
7. Maintain service vehicle, tools and uniforms.
8. Work independently with daily supervision.
9. Participate as scheduled for weekend/holiday on‑call rotation and work regular overtime as needed.

Additional Responsibilities

1. Obtain correct part numbers through branch parts person.
2. Collect payment on COD jobs.
3. Contribute positively to branch targets for response time and first‑time fix rates.
4. Participate in available training to increase skill and knowledge.
5. Perform other duties as required.

Contacts

• Internal‑ Daily with branch staff; occasionally with corporate staff.
• External‑ Frequent and regular contact with customers. Occasional contact with factories for warranty purposes.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Completion of a satisfactory background check and drug screen is required.
• 3 years of applicable experience.
• Valid driver's license and driving record that aligns with our safety standards.
• CFESA Master Technician with three of the four CFESA certifications.
