Job summary

SCI Summit Consulting, LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to lead the evaluation and underwriting of new and renewal business while aligning with company guidelines and risk appetite.

The role focuses on developing risk assessment models, collaborating with actuaries, agents, and clients, and ensuring proper documentation and compliance with insurance regulations across remote work in designated states. Occasional travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance or related field.
• Minimum 13 years of underwriting experience or related field.
• Professional designations such as AU, CPCU, CIC, INS or ARM preferred.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Leads the evaluation and underwriting of new and renewal business, ensuring alignment with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite.
• Develops and implements advanced risk assessment models to inform coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Fosters strategic partnerships with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to obtain information and provide guidance.
• Procures and analyzes supplementary reports and screenings to support underwriting decisions.
• Ensures proper documentation of underwriting decisions and compliance with regulations.
• Evaluates complex policy renewals and modifications for enhancements and risk mitigation.
• Communicates underwriting strategies to internal teams, agents, and brokers.
• Monitors industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions.
• Maintains relationships with customers and coworkers to generate and retain profitable business.
• Monitors underwriting practices and supports strategic adjustments for better outcomes.
• May supervise staff and participate in talent decisions.
