Job summary

Liberty Mutual Insurance is seeking a Technical Claims Specialist I/II, Workers' Compensation, to handle complex, high-exposure cases under limited supervision. This role supports hybrid work with in-person collaboration and remote tasks in the Northeast region.

You will investigate, evaluate, and dispose of complex workers compensation claims, apply medical management strategies, track trends, and coordinate with counsel to manage litigation while maintaining reserves and reporting metrics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience required.
• 3-5 years of related claims experience typical for the role.
• Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Investigates claims to determine coverage, compensability, and exposure.
• Resolves claims within authority; advises on case value and resolution strategy.
• Participates in pricing, reserving, and strategy discussions with management.
• Works with defense counsel to manage litigated files per protocols.
• Identifies and handles suspicious claims and third-party subrogation potential.
• Establishes and maintains accurate reserves on all files.
• Prepares for and attends mediation or settlement conferences; negotiates on behalf of insureds.
• Understands new exposures and coverages; analyzes key claim data elements.
• Communicates with policyholders on coverage and resolution strategy issues.
• Coordinates training for less experienced staff, including Complex Non-Complex staff.
