Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Wireless Telecommunications Subject Matter Expert to lead design and technical guidance across multiple projects, ensuring quality and compliance. You will review designs, mentor engineers, and coordinate with clients, carriers, and BIM teams on DAS, Wi‑Fi, Private LTE/5G, and related systems.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, problem solving, and adherence to NFPA and FCC standards. A senior background in RF design and strong communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Technical or associate's degree from an accredited institution.
• 10+/- years' experience actively designing wireless telecommunications systems.
• Experience serving as a technical lead or recognized subject matter expert.
• Experience working with clients to help them identify their wireless communications needs.
• Experience with troubleshooting wireless communication system issues from field teams.
• Experience with understanding Noise Floor, SNIR, Return Loss, and VSWR.
• Experience with optimizing networks in the design and during installation.
• Thorough knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 1221, and NFPA 1225.
• Thorough knowledge of IFC section 510.
• Thorough Knowledge of Carrier KPI's.
• Knowledge of IBC.
• Knowledge of FCC part 20 and part 90.
• Knowledge of FCC OET bulletin 65.
• Knowledge of MOTOTRBO systems.
• Knowledge of Motorola R56 installation standards.
• Knowledge of DMR Tier III.
• Knowledge of P25 radio systems.
• Familiarity working with Navisworks.
• Self-motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers, clients, and executive stakeholders.
• Strong technical leadership and mentoring skills.
• Familiarity with responding to RFP's and RFI's
• Experience reviewing project budgets and schedules.
• Experience identifying and mitigating project risks.
• Experience working with fortune 50 clients.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and approving Wireless systems designs in iBwave and EDX.
• Providing technical leadership and oversight for wireless telecommunications designs.
• Coordination with BIM designers to create drawing packages.
• Coordination with AHJ's, Radio System Owners, and Carriers.
• DIV 27 specification creation, review, or modification.
• Conducting site visits and punch walks.
• Reviewing technical documents and engineering deliverables.
• Supporting commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
• Developing and maintaining wireless telecommunications design standards and best practices.
• Providing technical mentorship and guidance to engineers and project leads.
• Managing the relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
• Supporting proposal development and technical responses to RFP's.
• Evaluating emerging wireless technologies and recommending appropriate solutions.
