Job summary

Speechify is seeking a senior Windows platform engineer to shape and own the architecture of our desktop app family. You will lead design, implementation, and testing, collaborating with designers, QA, and product teams to deliver reliable, accessible software across Windows 10/11.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years building Windows desktop apps with Windows App SDK/WinUI, strong C# and optional C++, and a passion for performance, accessibility, and maintainable code.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Windows desktop app development using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML and ideally C++
• Deep understanding of Windows app architecture, including interop between managed and native code
• Proven track record of designing and shipping production-quality desktop applications
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and making software accessible
• Strong fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading or async programming
• Experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, code reviews, and architecture decisions
• Strong communication skills and cross-functional collaboration
• User-focused mindset for polished, accessible user experiences

Responsibilities

• Lead design, architecture and development of native Windows desktop applications
• Define and enforce best practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase
• Drive accessibility efforts and ensure keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, and UI accessibility compliance
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning and long-term roadmap
• Take ownership of full lifecycle of features from conception to maintenance
• Identify, diagnose and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks and memory issues
