Job summary

Speechify seeks a Senior Windows Desktop Engineer to design, architect, and build native Windows apps using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and possibly C++. You will lead accessibility efforts and collaborate with design, QA, and product teams to plan and ship features.

You will own features end-to-end, ensure performance and reliability, and contribute to a scalable Windows platform in a fully distributed environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Windows desktop app development using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML; native Windows code experience a plus.
• Deep understanding of Windows app architecture, including interop between managed and native code.
• Proven track record designing, building, and shipping production-quality desktop apps with reliability and performance.
• Strong experience with accessibility APIs on Windows and inclusive software.
• Strong fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading.
• Experience leading design, mentoring engineers, code reviews, and architecture decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop apps using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and — when needed — C++.
• Define and enforce best-practices for Windows desktop development across the codebase: architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility.
• Drive accessibility efforts: integrate and validate accessibility APIs, ensure UI controls, focus management, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support.
• Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning and long-term roadmap.
• Take ownership of full lifecycle of features: conception → design → implementation → testing → release → maintenance.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, or compatibility problems.
