Job summary

The University of Michigan Information and Technology Services (ITS) seeks a Network Engineer Lead to steer the WI-FI group within the Network Engineering and Architecture Team. You will guide complex deployments, mentor engineers, and provide consultation to other technical teams while supporting end-user and network issues.

This hybrid role requires occasional in-person days in Ann Arbor and reports to the Network Planning Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in electrical/computer engineering or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Minimum 6 years with HPE/Aruba Wi‑Fi administration (AOS 8+).
• At least 4 years in roles requiring confidentiality, organization and customer service.
• Knowledge of operating systems, Python, networking and RF fundamentals.
• Experience defining objectives, solving problems and setting wireless standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design, support and deployment for new campus networks.
• Provide consultative leadership to project managers and customers.
• Collaborate with IT teams and evaluate new products/technologies.
• Represent team in university committees and deliver knowledge sharing sessions.
• Design networks per guidelines; review BOM, costs, drawings, and configurations.
