Job summary

onX is seeking a Web Software Engineer III to build and scale hunter experiences on the Hunt team. You’ll own features from ideation to delivery, collaborate across Product, Design, QA, and engineering, and help advance AI-enhanced workflows.

You’ll work in a distributed environment with opportunities to contribute to web, mobile, or backend platforms as priorities shift. Open to candidates nationwide in the US with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 2 years in web client development.
• Strong foundation in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and browser fundamentals.
• Experience with Vue, React, or Angular.
• Experience with REST APIs and/or GraphQL (Apollo Client).
• Experience writing unit tests with Jest or Vitest.
• Strong ownership and results-oriented attitude.
• Willingness to collaborate, mentor others, and advocate for the customer experience.
• Willingness to contribute to platforms outside of Web when needed.
• Curiosity for exploring new technologies including AI.
• Shared passion for onX values.
• Permanent US work authorization.
• Ability to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Build, support, and evolve web products for hunters using TypeScript, Vue, GraphQL, Apollo Client, Mapbox.
• Own technical solutions from ideation through delivery, including architecture, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and engineers to deliver cohesive customer experiences and manage cross-team dependencies.
• Run and instrument A/B tests and feature rollouts to measure impact and inform decisions.
• Raise the quality bar through design reviews, mentorship, and frontend best practices.
• Monitor production health and participate in incident triage and resolution for web experiences.
• Write unit and end-to-end tests using Jest, Vitest, Cypress, and/or Playwright.
• Embed AI as a repeatable co-pilot in daily workflows and refine its use with validation.
