Job summary

onXmaps, Inc. seeks a Software Development Engineer (full-stack) to help build and evolve the technology behind onX Hunt. You will work across the stack, focusing on services, APIs, and data connecting hunter experiences from planning to navigation.

You will solve cross-cutting technical problems, contribute to architecture decisions, and partner with engineers and product managers to deliver reliable, scalable solutions. Reporting to the Hunt Engineering Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development with API focus.
• Experience building and debugging distributed, scalable microservices.
• Modern API and systems design with strong CS fundamentals.
• Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL databases.
• Go, Elixir, or other functional languages; iOS/Android development is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve customer-facing Hunt experiences across mobile applications, APIs, backend services, and data systems.
• Own technical solutions from design through delivery, considering architecture, performance, scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Build and support large-scale systems, diagnosing complex issues and improving systems.
• Partner with Product, Design, QA, and engineers to deliver cohesive, high-quality experiences and navigate cross-team dependencies.
• Write maintainable, well-tested code using unit, integration, and acceptance testing.
• Review code, share knowledge, and mentor other engineers.
• Embed AI as a repeatable co-pilot in daily workflows with validated, sound judgment.
