Job summary

Professional Recruiting Consultants, Inc. represents a private northern New Jersey engineering firm seeking a Water Resources Design Engineer (Water or Wastewater) in Parsippany, NJ or Sparta, NJ. Hybrid with real flexibility, and a strong technical track.

You will design facilities to meet NJDEP, EPA, CWA and SDWA standards, perform feasibility studies, prepare calculations and reports, and mentor junior staff while collaborating across disciplines in a growing practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 5-10 years of hands on water and wastewater design experience.
• PE license, or close enough that you will have it within roughly six to twelve months.
• Strong working knowledge of NJDEP regulations and permitting, plus the relevant federal standards: EPA, CWA, SDWA.
• AutoCAD, and the technical writing to produce reports and specifications that stand on their own.
• A genuine preference for staying technical.
• Nice to have: experience with funding applications and the State Revolving Fund process, and with municipal and utility clients.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, storage facilities, and distribution and collection systems.
• Feasibility and planning studies with hydraulic, process and environmental evaluations.
• Technical documentation: calculations, reports, specifications, cost estimates and contract documents.
• Regulatory coordination: lead and support permitting (NJPDES, Treatment Works Approvals).
• Site investigations: field assessments supporting design and construction.
• Cross disciplinary collaboration with structural, civil and MEP groups and with vendors/subcontractors.
• Mentorship: guide junior staff on technical work and design procedures.
