Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is a dynamic, 100% employee-owned consulting firm seeking a senior Water Resources Engineer to design, manage, and market water resources projects. The role requires experience in drainage, stormwater design, modeling, and permitting, with the ability to oversee diverse projects and ensure scope, schedule, and budget adherence.

The candidate will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, mentor staff, and contribute to client relationships and business development

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field; ABET-accredited program.
• NC PE License (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
• 8+ years of experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Strong communication skills
• Strong presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Manages project(s) in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget.
• Collaborates with disciplines and subconsultants to develop a risk-adverse project scope and fee.
• Work closely with junior staff to create stormwater drainage design deliverables for clients.
• Provide QA/QC reviews of deliverables during the design process.
• Coach and mentor project team through one-on-one check-ins and debriefs.
• Communicate project status, updates, and issues to stakeholders.
• Build client relationships to understand preferences and requirements for quality projects.
• Monitor and execute project progress, identify risks, and develop extra work orders.
• Assist with marketing processes including proposals and interviews.
