Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. seeks a Water Resources Engineer to design, manage, and market water resources projects in Virginia.

The role emphasizes drainage design, stormwater management, MS4 permit compliance, and local transportation projects with mentorship to junior staff. The candidate should have Virginia PE eligibility, ABET-accredited civil engineering education, and 10+ years in civil design focusing on water resources.

Qualifications

Virginia Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited engineering program.
10+ years of experience in general civil design, with a minimum of five years in water resources engineering.
Experience with Virginia’s Runoff Reduction Method and evaluating projects to determine pollutant reduction and BMPs.
Hydraulic modeling experience using HEC-RAS preferred.
Stormwater management design experience.
Erosion and sediment control design experience.
Experience with local clients at county and state level.
Familiarity with VDOT and LAP requirements and protocols.

Responsibilities

Manages project(s) in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget.
Develop drainage design and stormwater management design per client specs using design software and drawing tools.
Coordinate with contractors, outside consultants, government agencies, and JMT staff.
Plan, schedule, and oversee detailed phases of engineering work on projects of moderate scope.
Prepare project plans, PMPs/quality management plans, and review invoices.
