Job summary

Apex Companies is seeking a Water Resources Engineer (Engineer 3 - Sr Project Engineer) in Florida to lead water resources projects from proposal through construction. You will design water control structures, model stormwater systems, and coordinate with clients and regulators to secure approvals.

Responsibilities include overseeing project delivery, reviewing designs, and mentoring CAD teams. A PE license in Florida is preferred; similar credentials and a strong background in HEC-HMS/HEC-RAS

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or related field from four-year college or university.
• 5+ years of experience in stormwater and/or groundwater.
• PE License Desired or close to obtaining.
• Licensed Professional Engineer for State of Florida Desired.
• Strong written and verbal skills required.
• Construction experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to effectively present information to governmental boards, public groups and/or boards of directors.
• Experienced with software such as stormwater routing modeling, ArcGIS, AutoCAD (Civil3D) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a variety of water resources engineering projects at the proposal, planning and execution stages.
• Lead and be responsible for design drawings for water control structures and flood mitigation projects.
• Understand stormwater analysis and design including modeling, floodplain mapping, and regulatory permitting.
• Technical review and sealing of engineering design drawings where applicable.
• Hands-on experience with stormwater management modeling (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, StormWise/ICPR4).
• Oversee pre-, during-, and post-construction implementation and field coordination.
• Provide peer review of reports and designs.
• Liaise with clients, agencies, and others to determine project requirements and approvals.
• Project management including scheduling and financial oversight.
• Supervise CAD designers and permit technicians to move permit applications forward.
