Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead the design, analysis, and qualification of flight‑critical valve assemblies for the New Glenn program. You will own requirements, interfaces, and design standards, guiding a multidisciplinary team through verification and post‑flight support.

You will apply advanced knowledge of cryogenic fluids, dynamic sealing, and high‑reliability systems, working with suppliers and internal groups to ensure safety and mission success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience designing fluid, mechanical, or electromechanical systems for aerospace/high‑reliability.
  • Experience as Lead Engineer/Responsible Engineer/Technical Authority for flight hardware.
  • Deep expertise in valve actuation, sealing, and fluid transient behavior.
  • Experience leading root‑cause investigations and qualification campaigns.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD (Creo), FEA (ANSYS), and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical lead and design authority for flight‑critical valve assemblies throughout full lifecycle.
  • Architect and analyze complex valve mechanisms for cryogenic and high‑pressure regimes.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, manage milestones, risk burndown, and supplier interfaces.
