Job summary

Mount Sinai's Milton and Carroll Petrie Department of Urology seeks a Surgical Scheduling Coordinator II to manage day-to-day scheduling of DAS and Ambulatory OR surgeries for adults and pediatric patients, support front office operations, and assist with registrations, scheduling, and pre/post follow-up calls.

You will contact insurance providers for preauthorization, participate in process improvements, and coordinate care to ensure a smooth patient flow through the OR schedule.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all OR surgeries and procedures.
• Monitor front office workflow and adjust to ensure optimum service.
• Verify patient demographics and obtain pre-certification from insurance carriers for all OR surgeries and procedures.
• Obtain patient medical clearance.
• Resolve patient issues or answer questions regarding policies and procedures.
• Place surgical confirmation calls 1 day in advance of scheduled surgery or procedure date.
• Schedule post-op follow-up visits with providers.
• Liaise between referring physicians and surgeons for communication of clinical data and to determine O.R. scheduling.
• Train and mentor other Surgical Scheduling Coordinators or junior staff within the unit.
• Collects and distributes appropriate paperwork to internal and external parties to coordinate the surgeries.
• Recording of hospital reservation and pre-admit data in CERNER system.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
