Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside in New York is seeking a Scheduling Coordinator for the Dermatology department to coordinate surgeries and follow-up appointments. You will verify patient demographics, obtain pre-certifications, and record pre-admit data in the hospital system.

You will arrange pre-testing, obtain medical clearances, and act as a liaison among referring physicians, surgeons, and departments to ensure smooth OR scheduling.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; Associates Degree preferred.
• Certificate in Medical Terminology preferred; ICD-9 and CPT Coding certificates preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the coordination of all OR surgeries and procedures.
• Verifies patient demographics and obtains pre-certification from insurance carriers for all OR surgeries and procedures.
• Records hospital reservation and pre-admit data in prevailing institutional system.
• Arranges patient pre-testing with appropriate departments and is responsible for obtaining patient medical clearance.
• May place surgical confirmation calls in advance of scheduled surgery or procedure date.
• Serves as a liaison between referring physicians and surgeons for the communication of clinical data and to determine OR scheduling, etc.
• Collects and distributes appropriate paperwork to internal and external parties to coordinate surgeries.
• Schedules post-operative follow-up visits with providers.
• Performs other related duties.
