Job summary

Hippo Insurance seeks a Senior Product Manager to own the Underwriting Platform, including rules engine, risk models, and AI-powered workflows. Reporting to the VP of Product, Insurance & Operations, you will shape strategy and lead cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact outcomes.

You will drive end-to-end lifecycle, partner with Engineering, Data Science, Actuarial and Underwriting, and translate business needs into technical requirements to improve loss ratio and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of product management with end-to-end lifecycle ownership.
• Experience with risk platforms, rules engines, ML models, and decision automation.
• Bridge business and engineering by translating problems into clear technical requirements.
• Proven track record of improving risk and efficiency metrics at scale.
• Set a compelling vision for a technical domain while driving near-term execution.
• Strong stakeholder management across business, technical, and executive audiences.
• Data-driven decision making with strong analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• PM experience in insurance, financial services, or adjacent industries.

Responsibilities

• Define multi-year strategy and vision for Hippo’s Underwriting Platform covering rules engine, risk and UW models, and AI workflows.
• Identify opportunities to modernize and scale UW infrastructure to improve loss ratio, accuracy and speed-to-market.
• Influence company-level prioritization decisions for the UW platform across product, engineering, and leadership.
• Stay ahead of insurtech, AI and risk modeling trends and translate into a roadmap.
• Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for the UW platform: discovery, prioritization, requirements, delivery and post-launch performance.
• Lead cross-functional execution with Engineering, Data Science, Actuarial and Underwriting to deliver on time and quality.
• Translate complex requirements into crisp PRDs, user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Drive measurable outcomes: loss ratio impact, underwriter efficiency, model accuracy and automation.
