Job summary

Selective Insurance is seeking an experienced underwriting leader to manage growth, retention, and profitability of a renewal book valued around $50m in premium. You will coach and guide underwriters, coordinate with Territory Managers and agents, and drive underwriting strategy while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

The role emphasizes stakeholder collaboration, performance reviews, analytics, and state pricing planning, with travel to agent offices as needed.

Qualifications

• Broad underwriting technical background.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good analytical skills.
• Proficient with Word, Excel & Outlook.
• Must have valid state-issued driver's license in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Oversees, coordinates, and monitors activities and results of an underwriting team to ensure accurate, high-quality work and strong production and service standards.
• Responsible for the profitability and production of the team per budget.
• Schedules, prioritizes, and distributes workflow to meet deadlines.
• Advises on up selling, cross selling coverage enhancements and additional lines of business.
• Maintains records and develops management reports to monitor results.
