Job summary

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and process assigned renewal policies, including applying knowledge of coverage forms, rating plans and guidelines in pricing and changes, with open communication to internal and external customers.
• Respond to agents' inquiries on coverage and adjust policy information within prescribed authority.
• Quote, accept, decline, modify and renew risks within territorial assignment per underwriting guidelines and collaborate with agents and departments to grow a profitable book of business.
• Provide guidance to customers regarding underwriting information and communicate decisions and appetite at account and portfolio levels.
• Develop and maintain relationships, conduct agency visits, and support team decisions to meet goals.
• Conduct profit and growth analysis by territory and agency; monitor premium retention using electronic reporting tools.
• May train less experienced underwriters and provide CLAS coverage and system training.
• Participate in projects and initiatives; support continuous improvement.
• Engage in ongoing development of technical skills and knowledge of Selective's products and services.
• Must have valid license and be able to drive to support company travel; travel is <5%.
