Job summary

Crum & Forster is seeking an Executive Underwriter to lead Middle Market production in a fully remote role serving the NE US. You will build broker pipelines, analyze underwriting data, and maintain a profitable book of business across Property, General Liability, Auto and Workers’ Compensation lines.

You will manage agency relationships, drive growth, and collaborate with regional management to meet profitability and retention goals. Travel may be required; drivers license preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 6+ years of underwriting experience.
• Strong relationships with agencies in the territories assigned.
• Innovative and entrepreneurial spirit with a forward-looking AI-assisted underwriting mindset.
• Strong knowledge of Property, General Liability, Automobile and Workers’ Compensation.
• Knowledge of Manufacturing, Retail, Wholesale, Real Estate and other general industry risks.
• Strong communication and analytical skills to pursue new business and manage renewals.
• Proficient in software needed to succeed in department.
• Knowledge and experience in territory broker relationships.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Possesses or is pursuing underwriting and industry designations applicable to area of specialization.

Responsibilities

• Manage regional broker planning and act as lead broker relationship contact.
• Assist in developing annual business goals for agents/producers.
• Analyze results and maintain accountability of agency partners.
• Meet profitability, retention, and written premium goals for the region.
• Make independent underwriting decisions within authority and maintain documentation.
• Underwrite Property, Auto, General Liability, Workers' Comp and Excess lines for Middle Market risks.
• Identify growth opportunities with assigned brokers and expand territory.
• Represent the region at industry events and functions.
• Maintain knowledge of department products, services and processes.
• Communicate Crum & Forster's value proposition clearly and effectively.
• Participate in training and initiatives; may participate in projects.
• Travel may be required; current driver's license requested.
