Job summary

Kids for the Future in Virginia Beach, VA seeks an Underground Utility Superintendent to lead field operations for complex underground utility projects. You will direct crews, coordinate equipment and subcontractors, and ensure work aligns with plans, specs, and quality standards.

Responsibilities include planning daily operations, guiding trenching and deep excavation, and maintaining safety with OSHA compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of underground utility construction experience, with supervisory or superintendent experience preferred.
• Experience with deep utility installation and excavation operations.
• Knowledge of water, sewer, storm drainage, trenching, shoring, dewatering, and pipe installation methods.
• Ability to read civil plans, utility profiles, specifications, grades, and survey information.
• OSHA trench safety knowledge and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily field operations for underground utility construction.
• Lead deep excavation and utility installation activities, including trenching, shoring, dewatering, bedding, pipe installation, structures, backfill, and restoration.
• Direct foremen, operators, laborers, and subcontractors to achieve production goals.
• Review project plans and schedules to ensure accurate execution of work.
• Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractor activities with project management.
• Maintain trench safety and OSHA compliance on site.
• Train and coach field employees on safety, quality, and productivity.
