Job summary

Nova Underground is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to coordinate and oversee underground utility projects from start to finish, while managing daily operations. The role requires leadership, field oversight, and the ability to keep crews productive, safe, and on schedule.

The ideal candidate will manage multiple crews and projects, read construction plans, and maintain strong communication with foremen, customers, and management.

Qualifications

• Experience in underground utility construction is required.
• Operations management experience in underground utility construction is required.
• Knowledge of underground utility installation and construction practices.
• Experience with HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) is strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple crews and projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to make decisions in fast-paced construction environments.
• Comfortable working both in the field and with office personnel.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee underground utility projects from start to completion.
• Plan daily and weekly work for multiple crews and job sites.
• Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and project schedules.
• Communicate with foremen, customers, general contractors, inspectors, engineers, and management.
• Review project plans, specifications, scopes of work, and schedules.
• Conduct jobsite visits and monitor project progress.
• Identify and resolve field issues to prevent delays.
• Ensure crews have information, equipment, and materials needed.
• Monitor production, costs, schedules, and overall project performance.
• Schedule new and upcoming projects.
• Coordinate mobilization and demobilization of crews and equipment.
• Manage change orders and additional work.
• Ensure work meets project requirements and safety standards.
• Promote and enforce company safety policies.
• Manage daily operations and crew coordination.
• Maintain communication between office and field personnel.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
