Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks an Senior Underground Transmission Engineer to lead the design of underground transmission projects from 34.5kV to 500kV.

You will guide multi-disciplinary teams, mentor staff, and interface with planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management to deliver projects on time and within budget. You will drive technical excellence, client stewardship, and continuous improvement of engineering practices, while expanding the firm’s footprint

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, or related engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 5 years of underground transmission or related experience.
• Experience leading an engineering team and managing multiple projects.
• Experience with 69kV or higher transmission systems.
• Proficiency with transmission software tools such as CYMCAP, Pull Planner, and Cable 3D.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical staff in utility engineering designs, cost estimates, and customer documentation.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects from 34.5kV to 500kV, ensuring quality and schedule.
• Develop project schedules and staffing plans for projects and daily work.
• Mentor staff in engineering principles, electrical codes, and transmission design practices.
• Collaborate with other departments and pursue opportunities to expand client footprint.
• Maintains relationships with clients and supports cross-functional project efforts.
