Job summary

RLI Insurance Company seeks a Technical Claim Director to oversee Personal Umbrella Major Case Unit liabilities, including auto, premises, and personal liability. This fully technical role focuses on investigations and evaluations, with no team management required.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in legal or technical claims, JD preferred, and a track record in large exposure claims across primary/excess lines. Strong collaboration with carriers and defense counsel is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; JD strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of relevant legal or technical claims experience.
• Experience handling large exposure third‑party liability claims.
• Significant experience with policy limit demands in FL, TX and CA.

Responsibilities

• Proactively manage Personal Umbrella Liability claims with detailed investigations.
• Analyze complex coverage issues and draft clear coverage letters.
• Conduct timely investigations into liability and damages to identify exposures early.
• Develop effective resolution strategies and timely liability investigations.
• Adhere to RLI's Best Practices in all claims handling activities.
