This role is strictly technical and file-based, with no direct reports and a focus on thorough investigations and evaluations.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree, 8+ years in legal or technical claims, and strong knowledge of umbrella/excess handling.

Qualifications

• Education: bachelor’s degree; JD strongly preferred.
• Experience: 8+ years in legal or technical claims handling.
• State knowledge: Florida, Texas, California claims experience.
• Independence: thrives with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaboration: works with primary carriers and defense counsel on umbrella/excess claims.

Responsibilities

• Claims Management: Proactively handle Personal Umbrella Liability claims, emphasizing investigation and monitoring of carrier activities.
• Coverage Analysis: Investigate complex coverage issues and draft detailed coverage letters.
• Investigation & Evaluation: Conduct timely investigations of liability and damages.
• Claims Resolution: Develop effective resolution strategies with timely liability determinations and reserves.
• Best Practices: Adhere to RLI's Best Practices in claims handling.
