RLI Insurance Company in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Technical Claim Director to join our Personal Umbrella Major Case Unit and oversee Personal Umbrella Liability claims, including auto, premises, and personal liability. This is a fully technical/file handling role with no team management.

You will lead investigations, analyze coverage, and set reserves, leveraging eight-plus years of legal or technical claims experience and strong umbrella/excess knowledge.

Qualifications

• Education: requires a bachelor’s degree; JD strongly preferred.
• Experience: 8+ years in legal or technical claims, with large exposure third-party liability.
• State knowledge: experience with policy limit demands in Florida, Texas, and California.
• Independence: able to excel in fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Collaboration: works with primary carriers and defense counsel; umbrella/excess handling knowledge.
• Legal acumen: knowledge of case law, statutes, and liability claims in multiple states.

Responsibilities

• Claims management: handle Personal Umbrella Liability claims with detailed investigation and monitoring of primary carrier activities.
• Coverage analysis: investigate complex coverage issues and draft letters.
• Investigation & evaluation: conduct timely investigations into liability and damages.
• Claims resolution: develop effective resolution strategies with timely investigations and reserves.
• Best practices: adhere to RLI's Best Practices in claims handling.
