Job summary

RLI Insurance Company seeks a Technical Claim Director to lead Personal Umbrella Major Case Unit, overseeing Personal Umbrella Liability claims including auto, premises and personal liability. This is a fully technical, file-handling role with no direct team management.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree with JD strongly preferred, 8+ years of legal or technical claims experience, and deep knowledge of umbrella/excess handling, with collaboration across primary carriers and defense counsel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; JD strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of relevant legal or technical claims experience.
• Experience handling large exposure third-party liability claims on primary/excess basis.

Responsibilities

• Proactively manage Personal Umbrella Liability claims with detailed investigations.
• Investigate and analyze complex coverage issues; provide clear letters.
• Conduct timely investigations into liability and damages; recognize exposures early.
• Focus on effective resolution strategies with proper reserve setting.
• Adhere to RLI's Best Practices in claims handling.
