Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Sr UI/IX Engineer to design and implement modern, responsive user interfaces for mission-critical applications on the Chinook Program. You will work with software engineers, systems engineers, and mission stakeholders to translate complex requirements into intuitive experiences that perform in demanding environments.

You will shape UI patterns, contribute to design systems, and mentor teammates.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required per contract.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/SE or related field with 8–12 years of experience or Master’s with 6–10 years of experience.
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with ability to pass a polygraph.
• Strong experience building modern web UIs and UX.
• Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Python.
• Experience with frontend frameworks (React/Angular/Vue.js/Django).
• Understanding of responsive design and component-based development.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum or SAFe environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across teams.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins) and Jira/Confluence.
• Familiarity with AWS GovCloud and Docker/Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of secure coding and RMF/STIG processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering of modern, interactive UIs for mission-critical apps.
• Translate requirements into intuitive UI/IX solutions.
• Collaborate across product, UX, engineering, and mission stakeholders.
• Develop reusable UI components and design standards.
• Apply user-centered design to simplify complex workflows.
• Create prototypes and proof-of-concept interfaces for validation.
• Partner with software teams to ensure accurate, efficient implementation.
• Evaluate interfaces for usability, accessibility, and responsiveness.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and PI Planning.
• Contribute to UI/IX engineering best practices and standards.
• Mentor less-experienced engineers and assist in process improvements.
