Job summary

Leidos Inc. in Chantilly, VA and nearby locations seeks a Sr. UI/IX Engineer to design and implement modern, responsive UI for mission-critical systems.

You will collaborate with designers, product owners, software and systems engineers to translate complex requirements into intuitive interfaces, and to ensure performance and accessibility. You will drive reusable UI patterns, participate in Agile ceremonies, mentor engineers, and contribute to UI/IX best practices.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 8–12 years of experience or Master's with 6–10 years of experience.
• Active Top Secret/SCI with ability to pass a Polygraph.
• Strong experience developing modern web-based UIs and UX.
• Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Python.
• Experience with modern UI frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js, Django).
• Experience in Agile/Scrum or SAFe environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, Jenkins) and agile tools (JIRA, Confluence).
• Familiarity with AWS GovCloud and Docker/Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering of modern, intuitive UIs for mission-critical apps.
• Translate user needs and workflows into effective UI/IX solutions.
• Collaborate with product owners, UX/UI designers, software and systems engineers, and stakeholders.
• Develop reusable UI components, patterns, and design standards.
• Apply user-centered design to simplify complex workflows and improve usability.
• Build interactive prototypes to validate concepts with stakeholders.
• Work with software teams to ensure designs are implemented accurately and efficiently.
• Evaluate interfaces to improve usability, accessibility, and responsiveness.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, PI Planning, backlog refinement, and sprints.
• Contribute to UI/IX best practices and mentor junior engineers.
• Support QA with thorough UI validation and testing.
