Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Principal Engineer for Unified Communications, focusing on Cisco Webex Dedicated Instance architecture across global sites.

You will drive design, standards, and strategic direction, while hands-on implementing voice, video, and contact center integrations. This role emphasizes security, resilience, and operational excellence in a primarily remote, enterprise setting.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years in Unified Communications, Collaboration, or Voice Engineering roles.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Webex Dedicated Instance and core UC components (CUCM, Unity Connection, IM & Presence, Expressway).
• Strong understanding of SIP, VoIP, PSTN connectivity, dial plans, and call flows.
• Experience designing and supporting large-scale, enterprise UC environments.
• Advanced troubleshooting across signaling, media, network, and endpoint layers.
• Knowledge of QoS, routing, and firewalls as they relate to UC.

Responsibilities

• Define UC architecture standards, reference designs, and best practices.
• Lead design of complex UC solutions including Call Control, Unity, IM & Presence, Expressway, and Webex app integration.
• Evaluate Cisco roadmaps and releases; provide strategic recommendations and adoption plans.
• Own enterprise UC technical standards and approve deviations from baselines.
• Design, build, and operate highly available, secure UC environments.
• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex voice/video issues.
• Drive platform stability through lifecycle management and governance.
• Mentor engineers and lead architectural reviews.
• Collaborate with Cisco and partners on deployments and integrations.
