Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking a Senior Transportation Project Manager to support our Gulf Region, spanning Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

The role requires 10+ years in roadway design, traffic engineering, or transportation planning, with a PE license and strong client leadership skills. You will lead delivery for state DOTs and local agencies, manage scopes, schedules, and budgets, and coordinate with multi-office teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in roadway design, traffic engineering, and/or transportation planning.
• Experience with state DOTs, meeting DOT standards, schedules, and budgets.
• Strong knowledge of DOT design methods, plan prep, standards and specs.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of transportation projects for state DOTs and local municipalities.
• Serve as primary client contact, building relationships with DOTs and municipalities.
• Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing.
• Prepare, issue, and track project documents, contracts, and approvals.
• Oversee project financials including forecasting, invoicing, and PO management.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, and presentations for clients and regulators.
• Support project submittals and bidding activities.
• Ensure QA/QC processes are followed and documented.
• Mentor project teams and foster collaboration.
• Support business development including proposals and marketing.
