Job summary

Volkert Inc. seeks a Senior Transportation Project Manager to lead multi-state transportation initiatives across AL, MS, and TN.

You will manage roadway design and traffic planning projects for state DOTs and municipalities, maintain client relationships, and guide project teams to deliver on time and within budget. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience, a PE license, and proficiency with OpenRoads Designer, Geopak, and traffic analysis tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in roadway design, traffic engineering, and/or transportation planning.
• Experience working with state DOTs, with a proven ability to meet DOT standards, schedules, and budgets.
• Strong knowledge of DOT design methods, plan preparation, standards, and specifications, or of traffic engineering and transportation planning principles.
• Demonstrated success managing medium to large, complex, or multi-office projects and client relationships.
• Proficiency with discipline-relevant software, such as OpenRoads Designer and Geopak for roadway design, or Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA, and HCS for traffic engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of transportation projects for state DOTs and local municipalities, including roadway design and traffic analysis.
• Serve as the primary client point of contact, building and maintaining relationships with DOTs and stakeholders.
• Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans.
• Prepare, issue, and track project documentation, contracts, change orders, and approvals.
• Oversee project financial performance, including forecasting, invoicing, and POs.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, and presentations for clients and regulators.
• Support project submittals and bidding activities.
• Ensure quality assurance and quality control processes are followed.
• Guide and mentor project teams and support business development efforts.
