Job summary

Volkert, Inc. seeks a Senior Transportation Project Manager to lead complex highway projects across Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. You will manage scope, schedule, budget, and client relationships with state DOTs and municipalities.

The role requires a PE, a civil engineering degree, and 10+ years in roadway design or traffic engineering. You will mentor teams and contribute to business development while ensuring QA/QC.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in roadway design, traffic engineering, or transportation planning.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Experience with state DOTs and meeting DOT standards, schedules, and budgets.
• Proven track record managing medium to large, multi-office projects and client relationships.
• Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer, Geopak or similar tools; traffic software knowledge helpful.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and possess a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Lead transportation project delivery for DOTs and municipalities.
• Serve as primary client contact and build strong stakeholder relationships.
• Develop and manage scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans.
• Prepare contracts, change orders, and client approvals across all phases.
• Oversee project financial performance including forecasting and invoicing.
• Prepare reports, meeting minutes, and presentations for clients and regulators.
• Support submittals and bidding activities; ensure QA/QC processes.
• Mentor project teams and contribute to business development.
