Volkert, Inc. in Alabama is seeking a Senior Transportation Project Manager to lead transportation projects for state DOTs and local municipalities across Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

You will manage scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing while maintaining client relationships. Candidates should have a Civil Engineering degree, PE license, 10+ years in roadway design/traffic engineering, and proficiency with OpenRoads, Geopak, Synchro and related tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in roadway design, traffic engineering, and/or transportation planning.
• Experience working with state DOTs, with a proven ability to meet DOT standards, schedules, and budgets.
• Strong knowledge of DOT design methods, plan preparation, standards, and specifications, or of traffic engineering and transportation planning principles.
• Demonstrated success managing medium to large, complex, or multi-office projects and client relationships.
• Proficiency with discipline-relevant software, such as OpenRoads Designer and Geopak for roadway design, or Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA, and HCS for traffic engineering.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
• Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of transportation projects for state DOTs and local municipalities, including roadway design and traffic analyses.
• Serve as the primary client point of contact, building and maintaining relationships with DOTs, municipalities, and key stakeholders.
• Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans to ensure successful delivery.
• Prepare, issue, and track project documentation, including contracts and change orders.
• Oversee project financial performance, including forecasting, invoicing, and accounts receivable.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, and presentations for clients and regulatory agencies.
• Support project submittals and bidding activities.
• Ensure QA/QC processes are followed and documented.
• Guide and mentor project teams, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.
• Support business development efforts, including proposals and client engagement.
• Collaborate with regional leadership on strategic growth initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned
