Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead and support transportation design on diverse projects, including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and P3. The role uses OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design and modeling, with travel as required and a hybrid work arrangement preferred in the Fairfax, VA area.

The ideal candidate has a Civil Engineering degree, 8+ years of experience in transportation infrastructure, and a VA PE license (or ability to obtain within 6 months).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• 8+ years in transportation infrastructure design.
• PE license in VA or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficient in ORD for roadway design and modeling.
• Strong communication and teamwork.
• Familiarity with DOT standards across multiple states.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on transportation projects.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop design solutions.
• Serve as liaison between internal teams, clients, and contractors.
• Develop and review plans, specs, estimates, and reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposals, design-build pursuits, and presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development.
• Ensure QC and compliance with standards.
• Stay informed on industry trends and delivery methods.
