Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects across a variety of delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and P3. You will use OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design and reporting while collaborating with dispersed teams and clients.

The role requires a PE license (VA or eligible within 6 months), 8+ years in transportation design, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
8+ years of experience in transportation infrastructure design.
Active PE license in VA or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Proficient in OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design and modeling.
Strong communication, collaboration, and attention to detail.
Familiarity with DOT standards and procedures across multiple states.

Responsibilities

Lead or support technical design on a range of transportation projects (highways, interchanges, tollways, transit corridors).
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across offices to develop innovative, cost-effective designs.
Serve as liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
Develop and review plans, specifications, cost estimates, and design reports using ORD.
Participate in proposals, design-build pursuits, and technical presentations.
Mentor junior engineers and support career development.
Ensure quality control and compliance with standards and client requirements.
