Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead transportation design across delivery methods including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build and P3. You’ll use OpenRoads Designer (ORD) to prepare roadway plans, reviews, estimates, and reports while mentoring junior staff.

Ideal candidates hold a PE license (VA eligible within 6 months), have 8+ years in transportation design, and communicate effectively with dispersed teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
• Eight+ years of experience in transportation infrastructure design.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in VA or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design and modeling.
• Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with DOT standards and procedures across multiple states.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on highways, interchanges, tollways and transit corridors.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across offices to develop design solutions.
• Serve as a technical liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors and stakeholders.
• Develop and review plans, specs, cost estimates and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposal development, design-build pursuits and technical presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development within the project team.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Stay informed about industry trends and alternative delivery methods.
