Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead transportation design efforts across delivery methods including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and P3. You will prepare roadway design plans using OpenRoads Designer and contribute to reports, modeling, and plan production tasks.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in transportation infrastructure design, a PE license in VA or the ability to obtain within 6 months, and strong communication skills to collaborate across dispersed teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in transportation infrastructure design.
• Active PE license in VA or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design and modeling.
• Strong communication and collaboration with dispersed teams.
• Familiarity with DOT standards across multiple states.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on highways, interchanges, tollways, and transit corridors.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across offices to develop innovative design solutions.
• Serve as a technical liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Develop and review plans, specifications, cost estimates, and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposal development, design-build pursuits, and technical presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development within the project team.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Stay informed about industry trends and alternative delivery methods.
