Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead and contribute to transportation design across multiple delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and P3. You will prepare roadway design plans using OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and contribute to technical reports, modeling, and plan production tasks.

Fully remote candidates will be considered, though a hybrid arrangement based in Fairfax, VA is preferred. Travel may be required depending on project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Eight (8) or more years of transportation infrastructure design experience.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in VA or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design and modeling.
• Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with DOT standards and procedures across multiple states.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on highways, interchanges, tollways, and transit corridors.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to create innovative, cost-effective designs.
• Serve as liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Develop and review plans, specs, cost estimates, and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposals, design-build pursuits, and technical presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support project team development.
• Ensure QC and compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Stay informed on industry trends and alternative delivery methods.
