Job summary

RK&K seeks a Senior Project Engineer to help plan, design, and deliver transportation projects across delivery types. You will use OpenRoads Designer (ORD) to prepare roadway designs and contribute to reports, modeling, and plan production.

Remote work is possible, with a preference for hybrid arrangements based in Fairfax, VA. Travel may be required. Eight or more years of transportation infrastructure design and a PE license (VA or eligible in 6 months) are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Eight+ years of transportation infrastructure design experience.
• Active PE license in VA or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficient in OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design and modeling.
• Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with DOT standards across multiple states.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on highways, interchanges, tollways and transit corridors.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across offices to develop design solutions.
• Serve as a technical liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors and stakeholders.
• Develop and review plans, specifications, cost estimates and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposal development, design-build pursuits and technical presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development within the project team.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with applicable standards and client requirements.
• Stay informed about industry trends and emerging delivery methods.
