Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead transportation design efforts across delivery types and collaborate with engineers and PMs. You will prepare roadway designs using OpenRoads Designer and contribute to reports, modeling, and plan production.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in transportation design, a VA PE or eligible, and strong communication. The role offers hybrid in Fairfax, VA with potential remote options and project travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in transportation infrastructure design.
• Active VA PE license or able to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficient in OpenRoads Designer for roadway design and modeling.
• Strong communication and collaboration across dispersed teams.
• Familiarity with DOT standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support design on transportation projects (highways, interchanges).
• Collaborate with multi-office teams to craft design solutions.
• Serve as liaison between teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Develop plans, specs, and cost estimates; use ORD for design work.
• Support proposals, design-build pursuits, and technical presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure QA/QC compliance.
• Keep informed on industry trends and delivery methods.
