Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects across diverse delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build. You will prepare roadway designs using ORD and contribute to reports, modeling, and plan production.

The role supports hybrid work based in Fairfax, VA, with potential remote considerations. Travel may be required as project needs arise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in transportation infrastructure design.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in VA or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficient in OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design and modeling.
• Highly organized with strong verbal and written communication.
• Familiarity with DOT standards and procedures across multiple states.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on highways, interchanges, tollways, and transit corridors.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop design solutions.
• Serve as technical liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Develop and review plans, specs, cost estimates, and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposal development, design-build pursuits, and technical presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development within the project team.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Stay informed about industry trends and alternative delivery methods.
