Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects across the firm. You’ll work with engineers and project managers on Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3, and other delivery types, using ORD for roadway design and contributing to reports and modeling.

Hybrid work is preferred with a base in Fairfax, VA, but fully remote candidates will be considered. Travel may be required to support project needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Eight or more years of transportation infrastructure design experience.
• Active PE license in VA or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer for roadway design and modeling.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; team-oriented.
• Familiarity with DOT standards and multiple state DOTs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on highway, interchanges, tollways and transit corridors.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop design solutions.
• Serve as liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Develop and review plans, specs, estimates, and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposal development, design-build pursuits, and presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to career development.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Stay informed on industry trends and alternative delivery methods.
