Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead the planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects across the firm. You will collaborate with experienced engineers on Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and other delivery methods, preparing roadway design plans and reports using ORD.

Fully remote options are considered, with a preferred hybrid arrangement based in Fairfax, VA. Travel may be required to support projects and client meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of transportation infrastructure design experience.
• VA PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• ORD proficiency for roadway design and modeling.
• Familiarity with DOT standards across multiple states is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on transportation projects (highways, interchanges, tollways, transit corridors).
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop design solutions.
• Serve as technical liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Develop and review plans, specifications, cost estimates, and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposal development, design-build pursuits, and presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with standards.
• Stay informed about industry trends and alternative delivery methods.
