Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead transportation design efforts, collaborating across offices on Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3, and other delivery methods. The role emphasizes ORD-based roadway design, reports, and proposals.

The candidate should have a PE (VA) or be able to obtain within 6 months, 8+ years of experience, and strong communication skills. Hybrid work is preferred with remote options considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Minimum 8+ years of transportation infrastructure design experience.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in VA or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design and modeling.
• Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Experience with multiple state DOT standards is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on highway, interchange, tollway, and transit projects.
• Collaborate with multi-office teams to develop design solutions.
• Serve as liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Develop plans, specifications, cost estimates, and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposals, design-build pursuits, and technical presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Stay informed about industry trends and alternative delivery methods.
