Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Transportation Manager in California to oversee TOM operations at a node, lead a team of Operations and Area Managers, and drive excellence in safety, quality, and customer experience.

The role emphasizes strategic planning, budget accountability, and developing leadership across salaried and hourly staff, with flexibility for location and shifts as needed across the network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
• Direct management experience in a manufacturing, production, distribution, or logistics environment.
• Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean methodologies.
• Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and terminations.
• Candidates must be flexible to work a variety of hours, including overnight, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Owns and delivers the operational budget for TOM, including safety, productivity, financial and labor planning.
• Provides strategic level planning (3, 6, 12 months) including labor forecasting and peak season planning.
• Drives continuous improvement projects to optimize operations and productivity to meet objectives.
• Networks with leaders to drive process improvements, efficiencies, and cost savings.
• Establishes objectives and metrics for safety, quality, productivity, and customer experience.
• Sets goals for Operations and Area Managers and monitors performance.
• Mentors and develops leaders and staff.
• Participates in recruiting for promotions and hires.
