Job summary

ICF is seeking a senior transmission planning engineer to own complex engagements, lead a multidisciplinary team, and shape the direction of our power delivery practice. You will perform steady-state load flow, contingency analysis, transient stability studies, and interconnection assessments for utilities and grid operators.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in transmission planning, strong Python scripting, and experience with PSS/E/PSLF, PSLF, or PowerWorld.

Qualifications

The candidate has a BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
Minimum 5+ years in transmission planning, power system studies, or related electrical engineering.

Responsibilities

Serve as technical lead or study manager on transmission planning engagements, owning scope, schedule, quality, and client relationship.
Perform steady-state load flow and contingency analysis for utility planning and interconnection studies.
Conduct transient stability and dynamic simulations, including modeling of IBR and conventional generation.
Lead large interconnection studies across CAISO, MISO, PJM, ERCOT, WECC, and other footprints.
Develop and assess long-range transmission expansion plans aligned with load growth and retirement trends.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to business development activities.
